The Responsible Technology Youth Power Fund is a first-of-its-kind philanthropic initiative aimed at supporting youth and intergenerationally led organizations shaping the responsible technology movement. The Fund has raised $1.5 million from 11 funders and is currently accepting applications from 501(c)3 public charity-eligible organizations with award amounts ranging from $25,000 to $200,000 — based on the stage of the organization and funding needs.
Applications close on April 1. The Stupski Foundation are inviting postsecondary success organizations and other community partners working to advance student and community wellness in Hawai‘i to submit concept papers of their work for consideration for a new grant funding opportunity. They invite proposals for policies, programs, and interventions that advance student and community wellness. They will prioritize concept papers that 1) address student and support staff wellness or 2) are innovative pilots and/or existing projects that advance community wellness. Although valuable, they will not consider concept papers that focus on mental health diagnosis and treatment options.
Applications are due March 31, 2023. Senator Schatz was successful in securing more than half a billion dollars in new earmark funding for Hawaii, as well as increased federal funding for the state. For a visual representation of the over $16 billion in federal funding secured by Senator Schatz during his tenure so far, we have a helpful map on our website:https://www.schatz.senate.gov/about/issues/delivering-federal-resources-to-hawaii
Heading into the next appropriations cycle, we take two types of appropriations requests: (1) programmatic funding, and (2) congressionally directed spending (also known as “earmarks”). Programmatic funding requests are for national programs that benefit Hawaii. Requests include topline funding, report language, or bill language. More information about programmatic requests can be found here. Congressionally directed spending (CDS) requests are for specific, one-year projects under certain accounts. Only state, local, tribal governments or nonprofits are eligible to request a CDS. More information about CDS requests can be found here. Examples of pas projects requested in the Senate can be found here. As we await the president’s budget request for FY24, now is the time to begin developing your programmatic or CDS requests. If you have questions, please reach out to me, your staff contact, or our general appropriations email address (Schatz_Appropriations@schatz.senate.gov). |
