About US

The Hawaiʻi Afterschool Alliance is a network of individuals and organizations dedicated to supporting and advancing sustainable, quality afterschool, summer learning, and community schools that result in improved academic, social, emotional, and physical outcomes for children and families in Hawaiʻi.
Vision
We envision a future in which every youth has access to caring adults, inspiring experiences, and an array of options that are safe, fun, and enriching for the whole child.

Strategic Priorities
  • Promote the value of out-of-school time through a common system of data and shared outcomes that both illuminate opportunities and demonstrate impact.
  • Strengthen out-of-school programs through training, technical assistance, and educational pathways that build a professional workforce.
  • Advance local, state, and federal policies that support high quality and well-resourced out-of-school learning opportunities.
Mission
We align and energize a diverse field of organizations to advance practices and policies that ensure meaningful impacts for youth and their families across our island communities.
Guiding Principles

Equity: We approach all of our work through an equity lens.

Justice: We raise awareness to disrupt the injustices of children and families historically disadvantaged.

Youth-Driven: We strive to meet youth where they are and lean on their voice and leadership to drive our work.

Data-Driven: We will collect and utilize data to inform our policy and decision making and implement change.

Collaboration: We will think beyond our own organizations and individual agendas to work together and collaborate with trust and transparency.

Hawaiʻi: We will seek to honor the qualities and values of our host culture--the indigenous language and culture of Hawaiʻi--through our work.
